When renting a dumpster, there are rules as to what you can and can’t put in the container.
What is allowed in most dumpsters:
- Household junk
- Furniture
- Appliances
- Electronics
- Yard Waste
- Construction & demolition debris
What is not allowed in most dumpsters:
- Paints, stains, etc.
- Asbestos
- Pesticides
- Automotive fluids
- Tires
- Freon-containing appliances
- Batteries
These requirements are put in place in order to protect the environment.
Putting any of the prohibited items in your dumpster could result in a fine, so make sure you discuss with your provider what items are and aren’t allowed, or you could end up paying $500-$1,000+ instead of $300-$500 for your dumpster rental.
