A Family Business Since 1946!

Lyle Campbell entered the trash business in 1946 when he purchased a small route from his brother, Lloyd Campbell. In 1947, Lyle Campbell & Sons was established with the birth of his first son, Larry Campbell. Lyle would go on to have two other boys: Joe and Lynn Campbell. Lyle had a strong and dependable workforce in his three sons. Lyle grew the business by focusing on great customer service, hard work, and acquisition.

Lynn Campbell, much like his father before him, started his own trash route in 1978 after buying a small part of his father’s route. Lynn built Big River Disposal on the same basic principles that he had learned from working alongside Lyle. Lynn made commercial hauling the focus of his business, giving his customers the same level of service that his dad was providing to residential customers. Through brute hard work and always putting the customer first, Lynn was able to build on his dad’s legacy.

In 2006, Lynn saw the need to provide an additional service to his customers and he added roll-off containers to his services. Lynn Campbell continued working hard, by giving his commercial customers the same high-quality service they had grown to appreciate.

Late 2020, after the passing of Lyle Campbell, grandson Jordan “Lyle” Gosney began praying how he could honor his late grandfather. Jordan Gosney, who is the current owner of Gosney Long Term Care Pharmacy and J.D.’s Self Storage, decided to honor his grandfather’s legacy by taking his business knowledge into the waste business. In 2021, Lynn Campbell sold the roll-off container portion of Big River Disposal to Jordan Lyle Gosney.

Jordan looks forward to serving the community in the same way his grandfather Lyle Campbell and uncle Lynn Campbell have served before him.

Big River Roll-Off

Review by Katerina in Hyannis, MA

My fiance and I came from MA to do renovation on our house in Hannibal. We hired builders from another state and rented a dumpster from Big River. Everything was fine but dealing with Big River- particularly woman name Trang - was a nightmare. I have never met such a poor time management. This company saves on driver’s labor: there is only one driver Grag - extremely nice guy, very helpful and one more (the owner’s husband) that do drop offs and pick ups. Our dumpster was ready to be picked up Friday we didn’t get it picked up until Monday afternoon. Trang told me they don’t work Saturdays- which is a lie as online it says they work 9am-12. It’s okay to have dumpster for an extra day or two unless you have another work going on and other trucks needs to be parked at the same spot where dumpster is. the builders are waiting for the dumpster to be removed because it is on the way. Trang is really bad at communicating- no knowledge of time frame for pick up and drop off, terrible problem solving, complete disorganization and unprofessionalism. In addition to that on the day of the drop off we didn’t get the dumpster until 2 hours later the agreed time. It turned out that the driver had a flat tire but the company even didn’t have another driver to do the drop off to be on time. Big River isn’t prepared even for a flat tire event. It all comes down to this company does not hire enough drivers which leads to a terrible time frame scheduling. As a customer I had a very bad experience not only loosing my time but also been treated disrespectfully. This company fast to charge you the full price but will not give you a proper service, at least I didn’t. After been so unpunctual company even didn’t negotiate with me the price for their poor service. Very unprofessional. The only good thing I can say about this company is the driver Grag who is absolutely great, nice and helpful. If you are time sensitive and have a few jobs to do in a row- make sure you have the time for pick up and drop off stated in your agreement, otherwise you can loose days of work, money and time.
