My Dumpster CT

I spoke to Mohammed about renting a 12 yard dumpster for three days. He originally quoted me $350 but since we only needed the rental for three days, he could do $300 if we paid in cash, otherwise we would have to pay tax. I specifically asked about any situations that would end up costing our rental extra or items that could not be thrown in the dumpster and he named off some specific items like tires, appliances, etc. These were the only additional charges we would incur that he made us aware of. His staff dropped the dumpster off and collected $300 in cash from my boyfriend and they told us that didn't have receipts, so we received zero paperwork or proof of our transaction. I texted Mohammed asking him to forward me a receipt and he said he would. When I never received one, I reached out again and was told he would provide a receipt once he picked our dumpster back up. I never had an agreement to sign or an invoice or any other document you would normally get from a professional establishment. I called him on the day he was supposed to pick up our dumpster and provide our receipt and I never heard back from him at all. Concerned that he was going to charge our card without our knowledge, we deactivated the credit card on file. He then reached out two days later to say that he needed to talk to us about overages. When I asked what overages he was referring to since we didn't put any items in the dumpster that he explained would result in overages, he claimed that we were 1,540 lbs overweight from a weight limit we were never made aware of. He said he normally charges 12 cents per lb overweight but will do 10 cents per lb since he never told us about this limit. He also said we could pay cash to avoid taxes or we could pay the $154 with 12% tax plus credit card fees. The last time I checked, the state of CT only charges 6.35% tax, so I am wondering where he is getting his figures. In an attempt to be fair, I said I would pay half of his normal rate, 6 cents per lb. He refused this offer and threatened to dump all my garbage back on my property if he was not paid. I then requested a formal invoice before I would pay, and agree to pay, but let him know that I would be complaining to the Department of Consumer Protection in CT and the Better Business Bureau. I did this to avoid any damage to my property in his retaliation. I would never rent from this company again.
