The weight of debris inside a dumpster can add up quickly, especially when loading dense debris like dirt, concrete or roofing shingles. Here are two tips that can help minimize the weight of a load:
- Tarp the dumpster when not in use, otherwise rainwater can drench the load and add a significant amount of weight. It’s possible you could end up paying overage fees if this puts you over the dumpster’s weight allowance.
- Some junk or debris may be valuable to others, such as salvaged bricks, working appliances, or reclaimed wood. Leave these things out of the dumpster and instead, place an ad on Craigslist to offload it for free.
